Mother's Day is celebrated differently the world over, even in different months. In North America it falls on the second Sunday in May. The American holiday was pioneered by a number of women in the 1900s, most notably a woman named Anna Jarvis.
Once the holiday was recognized by several states, Anna spearheaded a successful campaign to have it added to the National Calendar. Later in life, she was upset that a holiday intended to be a celebration between mothers and their families had become so heavily commercialized. Keeping this in mind, remember to slow down and take time to appreciate your mom this Mothers day. This holiday is a good platform to bring attention to equal rights for women, especially the working home-maker, and a symbol of the sacrifices that mothers make. So, lets set aside Mother's Day to worship the wonders that our Mothers are!
